Eintracht Frankfurt celebrated an important away win in the Bundesliga.
At SC Freiburg, Oliver Glasner's team won 2-0 (2-0), Jesper Lindstrøm (34th minute) and Filip Kostić (43rd) scored the Frankfurt goals.
In the table, Eintracht, which had started the season poorly, improved to eleventh place.
The deficit on the European Cup ranks is now just as five points for Frankfurt as the lead over the relegation place.
The previous surprise team from Freiburg remains third despite the first defeat in the new stadium.
For half an hour, both teams had a rather leisurely exchange of blows at eye level, ball possession and final statistics were almost completely balanced.
There had never been any great excitement, Lindstrøm checked Freiburg's Mark Flekken (14th), Eintracht goalkeeper Kevin Trapp had to deflect a shot from Lucas Höler to the side (19th).
Then Lindstrøm benefited from the fact that a real Freiburg ball win rolled in front of his feet in his own penalty area: The Swede spiked the ball past Flekken and took the unexpected opportunity to score his first Bundesliga goal (34th).
Almost in return, Woo-yeong Jeong tried a similar conclusion, but failed because of the well-responding Trapp (36th).
Failed as a cross, successful as a shot on goal
Then Kostić, who had fueled speculation about an exit in winter with a change of consulting agency during the week, recommended himself for a possible new employer by scoring. However, the action should not have been planned: A free-kick flank from the half-right position was not precise enough for the advanced Tuta, but to the surprise of the Freiburg defense, the ball first flew to the inside post and then into the goal (43.).
The 2-0 break at break put Christian Streich's team under pressure, the game became more open at half-time.
Nicolas Höfler failed with a header on the post (51st), Lindstrøm tried his second goal from the second row, but Flekken won (56th).
After further opportunities for Vincenzo Grifo, whose shot Tuta blocked on the line (57th), and Daichi Kamada, who shot just wide of the far post in the counter-attack (57th), the game calmed down - Frankfurt brought the victory home with ease.
