Gladiators run out of power

Corona weakened and consequently also weakened by replacement, there was nothing to get for the gladiators.

Königsbrunn / Erding - The Erding Gladiators returned from Königsbrunn on Sunday evening empty-handed.

In the end it was 4: 1 (0: 1, 1: 0, 3: 0) for the hosts, because the guests were noticeably losing their strength.

As announced by coach Thomas Vogl, a rump group made their way to Königsbrunn. Babic, Borrmann, Cramer, Gantschnig, Lorenz, Mayer, Michl, Trox and Wagner were absent from the regular squad. Conversely, that meant: Thomas Mende was the only goalkeeper. With the juniors Baumann, Knallinger, Kuka, Lehner, Modlmayr and debutant Matthias Hanika, who did their job very well, the Gladiators got exactly three blocks on the ice. ESV trainer Andreas Becher, on the other hand, had four blocks available.

The Königsbrunn started stormy, and Erdings keeper Mende had to use all his skills in the first few minutes. Philipp Spindler had the first big chance on the gladiator's side in the 5th minute, but he couldn't get the puck over the line when he stabbed in front of the goal. Florian Zimmermann, who was successful in the majority, managed that in the 11th minute. A little later, on the other side, Alexander Strehler pulled away from the blue line, but Mende again put down a monster save.

The initial phase of the middle section belonged to the guests, but ESV goalkeeper Donatas Zukovas saved with sensational saves against Daniel Krzizok (24th) and Luke Kuka (25th). "After that we fell into our second-thirds twilight sleep," said Gladiators spokesman David Whitney. The hosts now took the reins in hand, and in the 28th minute, the free-standing Max Petzold dusted off to 1: 1. The Gladiators would now be better against it, but Keeper Zukovas presented himself in brilliant form. On the other hand, the no less strong Mende was lucky when a Königsbrunner shot landed on the crossbar.

In the final third you noticed that the gladiators' strength was noticeably dwindling.

The Königsbrunn team pushed the pace and finally set the course for victory.

Just three minutes had been played when Tim Bullnheimer shot free and gave Mende no chance.

And six minutes later it was Jakub Bitomsky who completed a pass from Hayden Trupp to make it 3-1.

Bitomsky once again made the final decision, fixing the 4-1 final score 100 seconds before the end.

"Koenigsbrunn put on the gas permanently with four blocks, after the long break from training with only three short units it was feared that we would not be able to keep up in terms of strength," summarized press spokesman Whitney.
