And by adding the nine titles of another Sébastien, Loeb this one, between 2004 and 2012, it is indeed a single world crown which escaped the two French pilots for eighteen years (that of the Estonian Ott Tänak sacred in 2019).
Incredible domination and recognition for French motorsport and its manufacturers.

If Loeb won seven of his nine world titles with Citroën (and two with Ford), Ogier did even stronger by winning with three different brands, Volkswagen (from 2013 to 2016), Ford (in the private M -Sport in 2017 and 2018) and Toyota (in 2020 and 2021).
A great first since the Finnish Juha Kankkunen (crowned in 1986, 1987, 1991, 1993).
