After Markus Anfang left Werder Bremen due to an investigation into a possibly forged vaccination certificate, the Bremen players have already received the third coach within four days.
Interim coach Danijel Zenkovic, like midfielder Nicolai Rapp, tested positive for the corona virus and sent to quarantine at home, the club announced.
Zankovic and Rapp are fully vaccinated, according to the club.
"Both showed symptoms, so they carried out PCR tests that turned out positive," said team doctor Daniel Hellermann.
"It has not yet been determined whether they were infected privately or in a team environment." It was only on Saturday that it became known that Werder's licensed player boss, Clemens Fritz, had tested positive and had been quarantined.
Brand and Makiadi take over
As Werder announced, both Zenkovic and Rapp will not be in the second division game on Saturday at Holstein Kiel (8.30 p.m., live ticker SPIEGEL.de; TV: Sky). For Werder, the third coach will be on the sidelines for the third consecutive league game. The U19 coach and former Werder professional Christian Brand took over the management of the training for the time being, as the club announced. The 49-year-old is supported by Cedric Makiadi, who also played for Bremen from 2013 to 2015.
Brand already acted as Zenkovic's assistant coach in the second division game against Schalke 04 (1-1) last Saturday.
Shortly before, the previous head coach Markus Anfang had resigned because of the public prosecutor's investigation against him.
The beginning is said to have used a forged vaccination certificate, a successor is being sought.
According to media reports, the favorite is the former Kiel coach Ole Werner, who, according to reports, should still have a contract with the upcoming Werder opponent.
