Summary: Watford - Manchester United 1: 4 (with broadcast) (Sports 1)

A coach goes and a coach comes, but there is one thing that never changes: Cristiano Ronaldo wins the Champions League.

Michael Carrick first stood on the lines as Manchester United coach, who was far from impressive last night (Tuesday) against Villarreal.

But after a lukewarm 78 minutes, Ronaldo took advantage of a mistake on defense and bounced over the goalkeeper to give United a small 0-1, with Gideon Sancho signing the 0-2 in extra time.

United, who are having a hard time in the Premier League, secured their place in the quarter-finals before the end and they did it mainly, or rather just, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo.

The numbers:

* Cristiano Ronaldo is the first player in the history of Manchester United (and of any English club) to score in all five opening rounds of a European factory.

* This was Ronaldo's 800th official goal in his career.

41 goals more than Joseph Bitzan and 43 more than the legendary discrimination.

* This was the third time Ronaldo has scored a winning goal in the last quarter-hour of a Champions League game this season - more than any other player in this factory (including overtime).

* Cristiano Ronaldo has scored four goals in a row for Manchester United for the first time since Wayne Rooney did so in March 2010.

The reactions

Harry Maguire, the infamous captain of Manchester United, said after the game: "It's a huge win for us. In recent months we have not been good enough. We needed this result for us and our fans. We looked very good in the second half."

Michael Carrick, who marked V for his first game as the team's interim coach, said: "We came here to win the game. We believed we were winning. It was not an easy game. Villarreal are a tough team."

On Ronaldo: "That's what he does best. In big games, in big moments, when you need him the most - he delivers the goods. He's cool and mentally strong, he knows how to stay calm."

On his team's unimpressive ability: "In the time we are in, it's not easy to make things work. In many ways, it was the best way to win. Our substitutes have made a big difference."

On Ola Gunnar Solskjaer: "These have been difficult days for this club. This result is dedicated to Ola. It is impossible to avoid it. I am glad we won, also for him."
