A fairytale performance in the truest sense of the word brought the team from the Freising Riding and Driving Club to victory at the German Vaulting Cup.

Freising

- The vaulters of the Reit- und Fahrverein (RFV) Freising with trainer Angela Struck are simply great: After their victory at the Upper Bavarian championship, the group secured gold at the German Vaulting Cup in Alsfeld, Hesse, at the end of October, thus winning the challenge cup for another year to Bavaria.

Puss in Boots, Little Red Riding Hood and more

During their appearance with their four-legged partner Hulapalu, Sarah Heiber, Laura Hebting, Verena Weigmann, Veronica Frey, Laura Lutz and Patrick Radlmeier abducted the audience into the world of fairy tales, in which a Puss in Boots could be found alongside many other characters as well as Little Red Riding Hood and The evil wolf. “We thought: Anyone can do a fairy tale. We just put several together, ”says Laura Lutz, who was not only successful with the group at the regional championships, but also became Upper Bavarian champion in individual vaulting.

In the previous year, the competition was canceled due to corona, but the staging of the German Vaulting Cup in 2021 presented both organizers and vaulters with special challenges in view of the tightened pandemic rules.

This made everyday tournament life difficult for everyone involved.

RFV trainer Angela Struck emphasizes: “Due to the long break from training and competitions, it was incredibly difficult to assess the performance of the other teams in advance.

So we didn't know what to expect.

We had already hoped for a place in the front area, but absolutely did not expect victory. "

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

After a regular duty on Friday afternoon, the freestyle on Saturday was given top marks, so that the Freising team could start as the leading team in the last starting position in the final round on Sunday afternoon.

“A nerve-wracking feeling.

You try not to watch the other groups and just focus on your own start.

Before the last freestyle you could feel the nervousness of the vaulters.

Fortunately, our magic fox kept calm and did a great job, ”says Struck.

Start in a higher performance class

In fact, the nine-year-old gelding Hulapalu was able to convince in all rounds and was honored as the best horse of the final round.

“The magic fox is actually the only one who always does what our trainer wants.

That doesn't really apply to us, ”said Radlmeier with a smile after the exam.

He had to contest the competition with a slight ligament injury.

While winter training is now beginning for the vaulters, Hulapalu can take a few weeks off - with long rides and light movement.

The team will compete in the next higher performance class S in the coming season.
