John Fleck, professional footballer for English second division club Sheffield United, collapsed on the lawn during a game on Tuesday evening.
During the game against Reading FC, Fleck went unconscious to the ground - his teammates acted quickly and stood around him as a privacy screen.
The 30-year-old was treated for almost ten minutes until he regained consciousness and was carried away on a stretcher.
Then Fleck was taken straight to the hospital.
Sheffield coach Slaviša Jokanović said after the game that Fleck was awake again and asked about the result - the club wrote on Twitter.
The game continued despite the shock moment, with Sheffield United winning it 1-0.
John Fleck, who has played in Sheffield since 2016, spent the night in the hospital.
On Wednesday lunchtime, the club reported - also via Twitter - that Fleck had been dismissed and wanted to return to the team on the same day.
