Robert Söltl leaves the district division FC Aschheim and changes to FSV Harthof.

In the interview, the veteran explains the reasons for this and looks back.

Aschheim / Munich

- Robert Söltl has been active for the FCA since 2018. As a playing assistant coach, he shot the club in its debut season with an incredible 31 goals for promotion to the district league. The club was able to hold its own there in the past Corona season 2019/21. Söltl previously worked for FC Ismaning, SpVgg Feldmoching and SV Nord Lerchenau, among others. In the 2017/18 season, the attacker was even allowed to lace up his shoes in the regional league wearing the FC Unterföhring jersey.

After the first half of the season, however, it is now over at FC Aschheim.

Robert Söltl leaves the team around coach Thomas Seethaler and becomes the new player-coach of FSV Harthof.

In the troubled regional league team, he should turn things around and keep the league.

In the interview, the 35-year-old talks about how he wants to do it.

He also looks back on two very special games in his career and announces how long he will continue as an active player.

Mr Söltl, you are moving to FSV Harthof as a player-coach.

Why is now the right time for it?

We are in safe midfield with Aschheim and I think they can do well without me.

So I decided to take on a new challenge.

At 35 years of age, I've been able to gather a lot of experience that I want to pass on to younger players.

For you, it's a return to the hometown club.

How deeply are you still rooted in the club?

My parents' house is 150 meters from the square, my father is on the board and I don't live far away either.

The club has always been close to my heart.

Robert Söltl wants to "form a unit" from the FSV Harthof

It is your first stop as head coach.

What did you plan to do for it?

I've been playing assistant coach for three years now (at FC Aschheim, ed.), Now I want to put my own ideas into practice even more.

The potential of the individual players here is really enormous, but they don't bring it onto the pitch as a team.

It will be one of the greatest tasks to form a unit out of them.

In terms of sport, the air is getting thinner and thinner for the FSV.

With just seven points, the club is last in the table.

How are you going to knock the buck over?

The early winter break (the Bavarian Football Association has canceled the last games outstanding in the calendar year 2021, d. Ed.) Plays our part a bit, so we have two more games next year.

We also want to broaden the team with newcomers.

What is important to us is a good structure in the team, having fun with football, passion and the right attitude that you need in a relegation battle.

"The year in the regional league - even if I didn't play often - was really a very instructive and wonderful time."

Robert Söltl about the season with FC Unterföhring.

During your career you played in the regional league and were able to prove yourself against TSV 1860 Munich.

Both games were clearly lost, FC Unterföhring lost 3-0 at home in the league, and in the Toto Cup duel in the Grünwalder Stadium, the FCU's famous scoreboard even ended up 4-0.

Still, how special were these games for you?

I'm really proud of the game in the Grünwalder Stadium.

In general, the year in the regional league - even if I didn't play often - was really a very instructive and wonderful time.

Playing against players like Marco Hiller and Phillipp Steinhart in particular must have been a big challenge.

Both are known to be regular players in the 3rd division of the Löwen today ...

Their quality is of course high.

I see the biggest differences in the speed of action in my head.

Not to mention the fitness, talent and ambition.

But it's a great experience to have played against such players once and to have seen it live.

Last but not least: how long should you continue as an active player?

As long as I am spared major injuries and feel fit, I will continue to play for a year or two.

The interview was conducted by Vinzent Fischer.
