The Syrian athletics team won two bronze medals in the competitions of the first day of the Arab Championship held in Tunisia.

The first bronze came in the javelin throwing competition for the juniors category, by Jawad Al-Baridi, while the second bronze was won by Yasar Al-Youssef in the 100-meter hurdles.
