It didn't need this defeat.
The Erding Gladiators lost 4: 6 (1: 2, 2: 2, 1: 2) to the Schongau Mammuts on Friday evening, and there was a lot of bad luck in the game, and the referees didn't mean well to the Vogl squad either.
Erding
- Even before this game, Erding's coach Thomas Vogl was not spared bad news. Florian Zimmermann suffered a serious knee injury in a clash in the Miesbach game on Wednesday and will be out until January. And Philipp Spindler signed off in a bad way. Michael Trox was there again, and goalkeeper Christoph Schedlbauer sat on the bench.
Not much happened in the first ten minutes, the only upset was a shot from the post by Daniel Krzizok (12th). But then the mammoths got stronger and were allowed to cheer in the 13th minute. Matthias Müller pulled away, the puck bounced back from the mask of Gladiators goalkeeper Thomas Mende, and Müller sank the margin to make it 1-0. Three minutes later, the Erdinger were outnumbered, but ran into a counterattack, which Müller completed to 2-0. When the next outnumbered, however, the Gladiators acted much more consistently, and with a full shot, Mark Waldhausen brought his team closer to 1: 2 (18th).
How close luck and bad luck are, the Erdinger felt at the beginning of the middle third. Daniel Krzizok first knocked the puck into the net to make it 2-2 (21st), only hit the post a little later, and in direct return Kevin Steiner made it 3-2 for Schongau (25th). After a controversial game penalty against Alex Gantschnig and a two-minute penalty against Roni Rukajärvi, Daniel Holzmann increased to 4-2 (33rd) with a 5-3 majority. But then the gladiators accelerated, and Wassilij Guft-Sokolov gave the gladiators hope again with a 3: 4 (39th).
At the beginning of the final third, the Erdinger fan soul finally boiled when goalkeeper Mende was knocked over and Holzmann effortlessly pushed the puck in to make it 5: 3.
What followed was a single Erdinger storm run, but more than the 4: 5 of Philipp Michl in the majority did not jump out.
When Coach Vogl took his goalkeeper off the ice for a sixth outfield player, Schongau's Ondrej Zelenka made it 6-4.
