Is Mathieu Valbuena the new Jacques Glassmann in French football?
In the spring of 1993, the great defender of Valenciennes had dared to stand up alone against all to denounce an attempt at corruption developed by the OM of Bernard Tapie.
Two years later, the verdict of the OM-VA case confirmed the facts denounced by the 59-year-old Mulhousian, now in charge of the retraining of professional players at the National Union of Professional Footballers.
The man who had exposed the affair and who had obtained a franc in damages had been the big loser of the scandal.
The other protagonists who were condemned (Bernard Tapie, Jean-Pierre Bernès, and the players Jean-Jacques Eydelie, Christophe Robert and Jorge Burruchaga), all ended up finding the light, as a leader, agent or on the field.
Not Jacques Glassmann, the great banished from French football, whistled on the grounds of France for having dared to stand up against corruption
