Erding becomes the favorite opponent for EA Schongau

The stricter corona rules almost created a ghost backdrop in the Schongau ice stadium.

The few spectators were, however, splendidly entertained.

- The Erding "Gladiators" are developing into EA Schongau's favorite opponents this season.

After the 8-2 win away from home, the "Mammuts" also won the points in their own hall with a 6: 4 (2: 1, 2: 2, 2: 1).

"The win was deserved, and I was also satisfied with the performance," said EAS coach Rainer Höfler after his successful return to the ice after the game-free weekend.

On top of that, the Schongauer ended their negative series of four defeats in a row.

"However, we once again missed out on many one hundred percent chances," complained Höfler.

He had wished for a higher level of effectiveness against his table neighbors and direct competitors in the fight for one of the top eighth places.

As far as the number of scoring chances was concerned, both of the weakened replacement teams were very reluctant in the early stages. In front of the negative backdrop of just 70 spectators, which was mainly due to the tightening of the access rules on 2G-Plus, the spectators had to wait until the middle of the first round for the first dangerous actions. After a shot from the post by Erdings Daniel Krzizok (12th), the Schongauer were allowed to cheer. "Gladiators" goalkeeper Thomas Mende fended off Matthias Müller's first attempt. In the margin, however, Müller scored the 1-0 (13th). Three minutes later, when he was outnumbered in Schongau, a perfect pass from Florian Seelmann landed again at Müller, who finished his solo 2-0 (16.). The Erdinger again had one more player on the ice when they shortened to 1: 2 by Mark Waldhausen (18th).

The home side then came back a bit sleepy from the cabin, which Krzizok immediately punished with the 2-2 equalizer (21st). After another shot from the post by the guests, Kevin Steiner aimed more precisely on the other side. His shot brought the "Mammoths" 3: 2 (25th). Subsequently, Erdings Alex Gantschnig received a match penalty for a foul on Florian Höfler (32nd). "But that wasn't a stick stitch," said Rainer Höfler, who judged the punishment for Erdinger after this attack against his son, but excessive. It doesn't matter: Daniel Holzmann used the resulting double majority for the EAS to bring his team back into the front with two goals (33rd). The home side then left out other good opportunities. That should take revenge, because Wassilij Guft-Sokolov with the connection goal to 3: 4 gave the Erdinger hope again (39.).

Even after Florian Höfer's 5-3 (44th) at the beginning of the final round, this game was not yet decided, as Philipp Michl scored the fourth goal for the "Gladiators" (50th).

The Erdinger then threw everything forward.

The EAS missed some counter-chances so that it remained exciting until the final minute.

Holzmann finally made everything clear with his empty net goal 34 seconds before the end.
