After opening the World Cup qualifying campaign with a home win over Poland, the Israeli basketball team is hosted tonight (Sunday) in Estonia in the hope of maintaining a clean sheet from losses.
Guy Goodes, in his second game as national coach, tries to avoid a negative milestone recorded by all of the team's coaches since 2006, except Erez Edelstein - a loss to the Estonians.
As you may recall, Maccabi Tel Aviv players John Dibertolomeo and Roman Sorkin joined the squad after their team's game against Alba Berlin.
The Israeli team remembers well the 78:62 defeat it suffered in Estonia in March 2018, and came into the game knowing that in light of the alarming foreign balance in recent years, tonight's victory could make a difference in terms of the final goal of the campaign, which is of course the World Cup.
The blue-and-whites will hope for a more successful shooting evening than the one recorded last Thursday, in which Goodes' players scored 8 of 28 from outside the arc.
To do this, the coach may give an opportunity to Adam Ariel, who was not a partner in the previous game.
