Max Hopp missed the qualification for the Darts World Cup.
The formerly best German professional did not manage to achieve one of the three top places for the World Cup in London (December 15 to January 3) at the last qualifying tournament on Monday in Barnsley, England.
The "Maximiser", as Hopp is called, instead lost 4: 6 in the first round against Australian Gordon Mathers, whom he had defeated 3: 0 last year at the World Cup in Alexandra Palace.
For Hopp, this ends an unsuccessful darts year.
Since 2013, when he made his debut in London's "Ally Pally" at the age of 16, the former top German player has missed the World Cup for the second time since 2018.
Before that, four German players had qualified for the World Cup tournament (from December 15).
In addition to the world number 25.
Gabriel Clemens (38) and Martin Schindler (25) are also Florian Hempel (31) and 16-year-old Fabian Schmutzler.
