Not awarded in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 65th Ballon d'Or will be awarded this Monday evening at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.


The essential

  • Six-time Ballon d'Or and PSG player Lionel Messi is among the favorites, as are Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema and Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

  • Three French people are among the 30 nominated for the Golden Ball: they are Kylian Mbappé (PSG), Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) and N'Golo Kanté (Chelsea).

  • The Women's Golden Ball, the Kopa Trophy (best player under 21) and the Yachine Trophy (best goalkeeper) will also be awarded during the evening.
