The Argentine star, Lionel Messi, the French star of Paris Saint-Germain, won the Pichichi Award for the eighth time in his career, granted by the Spanish newspaper Marca.
The Pichichi Award is an annual award presented by the Spanish newspaper Marca for the most goalscoring player in the Spanish League since its inception in 1929 at the end of each season.
Messi scored 30 goals in La Liga last season, during which he was crowned the league's top scorer before leaving the Catalan club, surpassing Gerard Moreno and Karim Benzema, who scored 23 goals each.
This award coincides with the Ballon d'Or ceremony, in which Messi has become one of the leading candidates to win the award, according to several reports.
