Upon his release, the PSG playmaker, already seriously affected in the left ankle in the past, looked crestfallen.
The Brazilian immediately demanded the change, tears streaming down his face drawn in pain, raising fears of a serious injury.
"He will take exams tomorrow," Mauricio Pochettino announced after the meeting, keeping a certain degree of caution while the first observations made by medical staff made it possible to quickly rule out the idea of a fracture.
The last medical examinations on Monday confirmed this diagnosis.
However, Neymar could miss up to two months of competition.

In a medical statement published on its official website on Monday, PSG wrote: “The examinations carried out last night (Sunday) confirm that Neymar Jr suffers from a sprained left ankle with ligament injuries. An unavailability of 6 to 8 weeks is to be expected. A new point will be made in 72 hours to specify the evolution. As we anticipated, the year 2021 of Neymar, on the sports side, is therefore already over, his resumption is only envisaged for mid-January 2022 or, at the latest, the end of January.
In fact, if he is not hampered by any delay in his convalescence, the former Barcelona should have found the grounds before the knockout stages of the Champions League which will be played in mid-February.
Last season, Neymar missed the double confrontation against Barcelona, at this stage of the competition, due to a groin injury.
The Parisian number 10 posted on his Instagram account on Sunday a message saying he would not let himself down after this new injury.
