He has been a professional snooker for 30 years, but that has never happened to him.
Williams fell asleep in the middle of a match at one of the sport's most prestigious tournaments.
It had nothing to do with his opponent, wrote Williams and then gave the explanation for the incident: He still feels the consequences of his corona illness.
"I woke up with no idea where I was," said 46-year-old Williams after his loss to Anthony Hamilton in the British Championship late on Sunday.
Williams, a three-time world champion and one of the most popular professionals on the tour, was sitting in his chair and leading 3-2 when he suddenly nodded off.
It was his opponent Hamilton's turn.
Williams said he was "devastated" having only just got back into the game after contracting Covid-19 in October.

The longer the day goes, the more tired I get, ”Williams said.
He lost the match in the end 5: 6.
