The French skier Adrien Theaux suffered a bad accident.

The season has already ended for him - but he was very lucky.

Copper Mountain - The ski season has not really started yet - and already there is the first horror fall.

Downhill skier Adrien Theaux suffered a serious crash during Super-G training in Copper Mountain, USA.

He was impaled on a branch.

The 37-year-old speed specialist sustained serious injuries.

Cameras were not there during the training drive - Theaux tells his fans what happened on Instagram.

“I made a mistake with the Super G and slipped through the safety nets into the forest,” he writes.

"The result: a broken shin, a torn off triceps and a large hole in the thigh, caused by a branch."

Alpine skiing: Adrien Theaux collides with a branch and is seriously injured

The pain of a branch boring into the thigh is hard to imagine.

One photo shows the French man with a battered face surrounded by doctors in the hospital.

But he speaks of "luck" that it has not gotten him worse.

“No vital organ was injured, that is the most important thing.” Not to imagine if the branch would have hit another spot.

Nevertheless, he struggles with the lost season.

“The signs were good,” he writes and apologizes to “everyone who believed in me”.

Many colleagues wish him all the best, including the Munich slalom ace Linus Strasser: "Adrien, I wish you a good and quick recovery."

Ski ace Adrien Theaux shows hard-to-digest photos of the crash

In his Instagram post, Theaux shows more pictures that are not for the faint of heart.

“That is the hard law of life, of high-performance sport.

The smallest mistake has serious consequences, ”says the experienced athlete soberly.

It is questionable whether Theaux will ever return to the slopes at the age of 37.

Either way, he can look back on a successful career.

No one can take away from him three World Cup victories and a bronze medal at the Olympic Games.

The risk of accidents and injuries is particularly high in the fast speed disciplines such as downhill or super-G.

Even the best German downhill skier, Thomas Dreßen, was seriously injured three years ago in Beaver Creek - and has still not fully recovered from the “total loss of his right knee”.

Another ski theme recently caused quite a stir.

A slalom race rose in Dubai at 30 degrees.
