Honorary President Uli Hoeneß spoke of the "worst event" he had ever seen at FC Bayern. The annual general meeting of the German soccer record champions ended in chaos last Thursday, and now the club is talking about increasing its willingness to engage in dialogue when it comes to Qatar sponsorship. "We assure you that we will intensify the discourse," wrote the Presidium in an email to all members: "We want to find a way together."
Herbert Hainer signed the letter, which can be viewed on Twitter, together with his Vice Presidents Walter Mennekes and Dieter Mayer.
The president was booed at the end of the meeting for preventing further speaking on the subject of Qatar.
The registrants of the verbal contributions have meanwhile been contacted, further discussions are to follow.
"First concrete decisions to improve the dialogue" were not detailed in the mail.
"When it comes to Qatar, we want to find a way together," the letter says.
"Just as it should be for FC Bayern." Hainer does not reveal what exactly that should look like in the letter.
Member Michael Ott, who got the topic rolling, also signaled willingness to talk in the ARD sports show.
The sleeve sponsorship by Qatar Airways, contractually agreed until 2023, is a nuisance for many members.
The association had not allowed Ott's spontaneous application, which was supposed to lead to a vote on Qatar's engagement.
The club referred to a ruling by the District Court of Munich I, according to which "the general meeting is not responsible for the deliberate and decision-making subject referred to in accordance with the association's articles of association."
