The president of the WTA Steve Simon said Wednesday "the suspension of the tournaments in China" because of the Peng Shuai case, a statement of the department which manages the women's tennis circuit.
"I announced the immediate suspension of all WTA tournaments in China, including Hong Kong.
In good conscience, I can not see how I can ask our athletes to participate in tournaments when Peng Shuai is not allowed to communicate freely and has, apparently, been pressured to retract his allegations sexual abuse, "wrote Steve Simon in a statement.
The Chinese player had disappeared a few days in November after sexual abuse have accused a former Chinese top-manager.
