At his first press conference, the new Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick rejected speculations that he would receive a bonus payment for signing Dortmund striker Erling Haaland as "nonsense".
The offensive department of the English soccer record champions was well staffed, said Rangnick on Friday at his presentation.
It therefore makes little sense to talk about new players.
There had previously been rumors that Rangnick would collect an additional ten million euros at Man United if he steered Haaland from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester.
"Let me take a look," said the new coach when asked whether there was such a clause in his contract, and jokingly leafed through his documents.
"10 million for Erling Haaland, 10 million for Kylian Mbappé, 10 million for Robert Lewandowski and 10 million for Joshua Kimmich."
The 63-year-old was reluctant to have any short-term title chances with Manchester United.
"We want to make the season as successful as possible," he said.
“At the moment we have to be realistic, the difference between us and the top three is big.
But let's see. "
After 14 matchdays, the Red Devils are currently twelve points behind leaders Chelsea and ten points behind third Liverpool.
On Thursday, Rangnick watched United's 3-2 win against Arsenal as a grandstand guest.
