The two-time Olympic bobsleigh champion Kaillie Humphries is allowed to compete for the USA at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
The native Canadian received American citizenship in San Diego on Thursday, nine weeks before the Winter Games.
In 2018, Humphries had accused a Canadian coach of sexual harassment, which is why she started the World Cup with a special permit for the United States since last winter.
In order to participate in the Olympics, however, the gold medalist from 2010 and 2014 required US citizenship.
“I'm more touched than I would have thought,” wrote the 36-year-old on Instagram: “It took many years to achieve this result.
A bumpy road full of doubts and uncertainty as to whether the decision would be made before the Olympic Games. "
The reigning world champion is one of the main competitors of the German bobsleigh pilots for the world cup leader Laura Nolte in Beijing.
