Bundesliga: 7-1 - Leverkusen beats Fürth, Wolfsburg loses again

2021-12-04T16:34:04.287Z

Greuther Fürth has again conceded more than half a dozen goals. Especially Leverkusen's Patrik Schick had an easy game and scored four times. And: if there was euphoria in Wolfsburg, it should be over.

Third in the table against bottom of the table, the roles could not have been distributed much more clearly before the game between Bayer Leverkusen and Greuther Fürth. And in fact, after a bumpy initial phase, things went very fast: First, Amine Adli (12th) converted the first shot on goal of the match with an artistically jumped shin shot. Five minutes later, Edmond Tapsoba increased in front of around 15,000 spectators after a free kick with his head.

Piero Hincapié was then able to celebrate his first Bundesliga goal (45th + 1) and Patrick Schick his nine, ten, eleven and twelve (49th, 69th, 74th, 76th) goals of the season against guests from Fürth who were at most defensive.

Fürth's Jeremy Dudziak was able to slightly improve the goal difference of his team with his connection goal in the 33rd minute of the game, but could not prevent this twelfth defeat in a row on matchday 14.

With this fourth win in a row before the top match between Bayern Munich and BVB from Dortmund on Saturday evening (6.30 p.m., live ticker SPIEGEL.de; TV: Sky), Leverkusen keeps up with the two top teams.

Fürth remains at the bottom with one point.

Eintracht Frankfurt was the team of November, with three league wins in a row, the Frankfurt team met Hoffenheim - and at the beginning of the game the run seemed to continue. Summer signing Rafael Borré, who came from River Plate in Argentina, heads in after a sharp cross from Jesper Lindström from around five meters (15th). The Frankfurt problem: After inconsistent performance at the beginning of the season, Hoffenheim recently stabilized - and above all scoring goals like the 6: 3 in Fürth. And with this offensive power, coach Sebastian Hoeneß's team turned the game, sometimes beautifully.

In the 24th minute Munas put Dabbur back on the edge of the box, Dennis Geiger took the ball directly and curled it into the left corner. A little later, Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp let a shot from Ihlas Bebou ricochet forward, 19-year-old Georginio Rutter dusted off (30th). And Hoffenheim continued to press the Frankfurter Tor, Evan N'Dicka saved against a shot by Rutter with his head on the line (34th). In the second half, Diadié Samassékou made the alleged preliminary decision (59th), before Gonçalo Paciência scored the next goal with a great chest volley sequence (72nd). But the unity did not succeed any more.

With three wins in a row, Florian Kohfeldt started as Wolfsburg coach from the end of October, meanwhile the mood at Lower Saxony is likely to have changed: Due to the bankruptcy in Mainz, the Wolfsburg have been without a win for four competitive games, they lost the last three. This became apparent early on: Mainz repeatedly switched quickly when they won the ball in midfield, and the lead developed from this in the second minute: Jonathan Burkhardt hit the ball in the penalty area uncleanly and thus loaded Pervan into the Wolfsburg goal. A little later, Pervan steered a central shot from Anton Stach into his own goal (4th).

But not only Pervan, who replaced the injured goalkeeper Koen Casteels, did not have his best day. Wolfsburg repeatedly made serious mistakes, especially in the build-up game. Fittingly: Maxence Lacroix scored the final score with an own goal (90th). Kohfeldt made three changes during the break, but his team didn't come close again in the second round. In the table, Mainz overtook Wolfsburg.

With the famous derby win against Mönchengladbach in their luggage, Cologne could have advanced to eighth place thanks to another success in Bielefeld. And thanks to Salih Özcan, Cologne also took the lead (17th). As a result, Bielefeld got better - and repeatedly came dangerously in front of the Cologne goal through a counterattack. The greatest chance of the Bielefeld team's first round was thwarted by Marvin Schwänke; the representative of the still injured Timo Horn parried in a one-on-one against Fabian Klos. When it came to equalizing, Schwabe had no chance: Brian Lasme shot in the 60th minute from the edge of the box into the left corner (60th). Bielefeld coach Frank Kramer played no small part in this: Lasme was only substituted on in the 57th minute.

At FC Augsburg, VfL Bochum could again rely on their top scorer Sebastian Polter.

The hosts had more play for a long time, but made too little of it.

The guests from Bochum were more effective, after a double from Polter (23rd, 45th + 2) and hits from Gerrit Holtmann (40th), they were already 3-0 at the break.

In the second half, the FCA reported back with a header from Michael Gregoritsch (57th), and then pushed for the next goal.

For that, a penalty converted by Daniel Caligiuri had to be made.

But VfL could not take the victory away.

With this defeat in front of empty ranks, Augsburg remain on the relegation place, Bochum pushes further towards the upper middle of the table.
