Bundesliga club RB Leipzig has reacted to the so far disappointing season and dismissed coach Jesse Marsch.
The runner-up announced on Sunday, two days after the bitter 1: 2 (1: 1) bankruptcy at Union Berlin.
The third Bundesliga defeat in a row and missing the knockout round in the Champions League were the American's undoing.
Marsch, like his assistant coach Achim Beierlorzer, was absent from Berlin due to a corona quarantine.
The coach in charge was the second assistant, Marco Kurth.
The 48-year-old had only taken over the office from Julian Nagelsmann (for Bayern Munich) last summer.
As a former coach of sister club Red Bull Salzburg, he wanted to move away from possession of the ball to the typical RB pressing soccer ball.
But a clear concept could not be seen on the pitch, and Marsch found no solutions to the enormous fluctuations in performance of the heavily occupied squad.
