France will host Ecuador in the 2022 Davis Cup play-off from March 4 to 5, according to the draw on Sunday just before the 2021 final between Russia and Croatia.

The final phase of the 2022 edition will bring together 16 nations on a site to be defined.

Twelve countries will qualify via a play-off according to the historic Davis Cup format (five matches including a double in one of the countries) except that the matches will be played in two winning sets.

Four countries have qualified directly for the 2022 finals: this year's finalists, Russia and Croatia, as well as two guests announced on Sunday: Great Britain and Serbia.

It will be the first time that France will face Ecuador in the Davis Cup.

The Blues could have to do, in particular, with Emilio Gomez (30), 149th player in the world and son of Andres, winner of Roland-Garros in 1990. Gomez is currently the best Ecuadorian player.

The 12 play-offs of the 2022 edition:

France - Ecuador

Spain - Romania

Finland - Belgium

United States - Colombia

Netherlands - Canada

Slovenia - Italy

Australia - Hungary

Sweden - Japan
