Summary: Aston Villa - Leicester 1: 2 (Sport 1)

English football made a series of moving gestures over the weekend in memory of the boy Arthur to his son Hughes, who was murdered by his parents.

6-year-old Arthur was the victim of abuse by his parents, and died last year after not surviving a serious head injury.

Last week the boy's mother was convicted of murder and his father was convicted of abuse, in an affair that of course shocked the whole of England.

The 6-year-old Arthur was a Birmingham City fan, and over the weekend the team players came into the game with a shirt that read "Arthur we love you".

The gesture of football came in light of the fact that at trial it was discovered that Arthur's father had abused him and on one occasion he demonstratively tore two Birmingham boy's shirts in front of him, in a "cruel and vicious act", as described by the court.

Recently, a video was published of Arthur telling his house that "no one loves me" and "no one will feed me", before his death in June 2020.

The boy's mother was jailed for 29 years and his father was sentenced to 21 years.

The judge wrote in the sentence that "without a doubt, this is the most difficult and disturbing case I have ever encountered."

According to some testimonies, his parents forced him to stand for 24 hours, humiliated him, beat him and even served him poisoned food.

A number of teams held a ceremony in his memory before the weekend games, which included minutes of silence and applause in his memory.

In the games of Manchester United, Chelsea and Aston Villa of course we showed on screen pictures of him.

During many games in the 6th minute of the game (because of the boy's age at death) the crowd stood up and applauded for an entire minute.
