Syrian player Talal Al-Zaim won the gold medal in the Asian Chess Championship for the veterans category, which is currently being held in Damascus.
The medal came after an exciting competition with the Asian champions, where the leader in the blitz chess competitions “Blitz” advanced with a time of 3 minutes and 2 seconds, ahead of the Pakistani player Mahmoud Lodhi, while the bronze went to the Iraqi player Hussein Ali, and the fourth place went to the Palestinian player Atallah Tamara.
The competitions will continue tomorrow at 10 am at the Ebla Cham Hotel, where the classic chess competitions will start with a time of 90 minutes and 30 seconds.
It is noteworthy that Syria will host the Asian Chess Championship for Veterans from the 6th to the 14th of this month at the Ebla Al-Sham Hotel, after an absence of more than eleven years.
