Borussia Dortmund achieved a clear victory at the end of the Champions League preliminary round.

BVB won their home game against Beşiktaş 5-0 (2-0).

Donyell Malen gave Dortmund the lead (29th minute), Marco Reus only increased with a penalty kick (45th + 2) after Welinton Souza saw the red card for his emergency brake against Mahmoud Dahoud, and shortly after the break (53rd).

Erling Haaland made the final score (68th, 81st).

BVB had already missed progress on the previous match day when the team lost 3-1 at Sporting in Lisbon.

Borussia also suffered a serious setback in the Bundesliga, losing 3-2 at home in the top match against Bayern Munich.

Against Beşiktaş, Dortmund at least ensured a decent farewell from the premier class.

Coach Marco Rose's team scored in different ways and was sometimes wonderful to look at.

The 1-0 win was preceded by Axel Witsel winning the ball deep in his own half.

Then there was a counter: Via Nico Schulz, the ball got to Jude Bellingham, who drove it through the midfield at high speed and used Malen ideally.

The Dutchman overcame Ersin Destanoğlu in the Beşiktaş goal and paved the way for Borussia to win (29th).

Reus later converted the penalty with ease (45th + 2) and made the most beautiful goal of the game after the break.

After a passing relay, he came near the edge of the penalty area to the ball and stroked it twice with smooth movements past opponents before he finished well (53.).

Substitute Haaland hit twice more with a header (68th, 81st), the runaway win against decimated Istanbul was perfect.

Borussia had already won the first leg (2-1), only one victory was added and the team lost the other three games.

Sébastian Haller once moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to West Ham in the Premier League for around 50 million euros, he did not prevail there.

After 14 goals in 54 competitive games, he left the club for Amsterdam, he only cost half.

Today Haller is the man of the hour in the Champions League.

Against Sporting he scored his tenth (!) Goal in the competition.

The 27-year-old was successful in each of the six group games and scored four times in the first leg against the Portuguese.

The second leg also went clearly to the Dutch, but that didn't change the constellation in the group - even before the kick-off it was clear that Ajax would finish the group first and Sporting second.

BVB lands behind the teams.

It was noticeable at this encounter that both teams were still going through progress: In Porto, the professionals of both teams had been involved in a number of tough and some unfair duels. The result was one dismissal per team - and an away win for the Spanish champions. The away win puts Atlético in the round of 16, even though coach Diego Simeone's team could only win two group games.

Antoine Griezmann gave the guests the lead (56th), Angel Correa scored the second goal, Rodrigo de Paul made the decision against a broken opposing defense (90th + 2). Previously, Yannick Carrasco (Atlético) and the former Leverkusen-based Wendell (Porto) had seen red. Porto remains the Europa League consolation prize. AC Milan, who lost 2-1 in the parallel game at home to Liverpool, are completely out - the English, in turn, were already qualified as group winners for the round of 16.

When he was young and not yet a world champion and multiple Champions League winner, Toni Kroos was considered a footballer with a powerful long-range shot.

However, the midfielder did not allow too many hits from a greater distance.

It was different against Inter, when the 31-year-old scored from a little more than 20 meters to make it 1-0 for Real (17th).

And yet that long-range hit was only the second prettiest of the evening.

Later, substitute Marco Asensio shot at the inside post from a similar distance, from where the ball bounced behind the line (79th).

Thanks to the success, Real secured group victory over Inter.

Both teams had already qualified for the round of 16.

The other results:

AC Milan - Liverpool FC 1: 2 (1: 1)

Shakhtar Donetsk - Sheriff Tiraspol 1: 1 (1: 0)

Paris Saint-Germain - Club Bruges 4: 1 (3: 0)

RB Leipzig - Manchester City 2: 1 ( 1: 0)
