In support of sports and athletes, and in appreciation of the achievement they have achieved in the West Asian and Arab Championships that were held in the United Arab Emirates, the Governor of Damascus, Eng. Adel Al-Olabi, today honored the players of the Syrian national team and the Governorate Club, Wessam Dakkak and Yazan Al-Haddad, for winning bright medals in the Arab and Asian championships.
The honoring also included the players' coaches, Abdel Karim Maksoud and Bassem Abboud, in addition to the team's management, Shatha Al-Louz.
The player Dakkak won two gold and bronze medals in the West Asian Junior Championships and a bronze in the Arab Championship held in the UAE, while Al-Haddad won two silver medals for the under-21 category in the same tournaments.
The Governor of Damascus congratulated the players Dakkak and Al-Haddad on the results they achieved, raising the Syrian flag and playing the national anthem in the two championships, stressing that Syria is full of talents and stars capable of achieving achievement in various sports.
Al-Olabi called for doubling training and preparing for upcoming participations to ensure good results for Syrian sport and to raise the nation's flag high in all international forums, pointing to the governorate's readiness to provide the requirements and support necessary to achieve achievements in sport.
The honoring was attended by the President of the General Sports Federation Firas Mualla, the President of the Provincial Council Khaled Al-Harh, the Vice-President of the Executive Office, Dr. Ahmed Al-Nabulsi, the President of the Governorate Club Muhammad Al-Sibai, the Director of Education Suleiman Younis, and the Head of the Executive Committee of the General Sports Federation branch in Damascus Muhannad Taha.
