Real Madrid won the derby from the Spanish capital 2-0 against Atlético Madrid on Sunday for the 17th day of La Liga, and widened the gap at the top of the standings, with 13 points ahead of the Colchoneros (4th, 29th points), and 8 over Sevilla FC (2nd, 34 points).
The Merengues won thanks to a magnificent volley from French center forward Karim Benzema (17th), who established his status as top scorer in the championship with 13 goals in 16 matches, then another goal from Marco Asensio (57th ), well served by Vinicius.
