OL-OM incidents: dissatisfied, Marseille bosses appeal for sanctions

2021-12-14T16:41:06.912Z

The Marseillais seized the appeal committee of the FFF to review the sanctions imposed on OL during the incidents targeting Dimitri Payet.

The outcome is still a long way off.

On November 21 in Lyon, Dimitri Payet, who was about to take a corner, was hit by a bottle of water thrown by a Lyon supporter.

The meeting was then suspended before being stopped after two hours of blur.

As a result, the FFF had imposed a penalty point on OL and ordered that the match, interrupted after four minutes, be replayed behind closed doors.

To discover

  • Ligue 1 fixtures and results

  • League 1 standings

But OM, including the director of communications Jacques Cardoze, claimed before the judgment a sentence "

obviously greater than two points, one of which is suspended, the loss of points being inevitable

", does not agree with these sanctions and believes they should be heavier.

The Phocéens therefore appealed the decision to the FFF.

With this decision, Cardoze regretted a "

risky and deeply disappointing decision, even humiliating for the players

" and "

a parody of justice

".

In particular, he criticized the commission for the atypical decision not to have summoned them to the hearing as a victim.

Conversely, OL regretted "

a very heavy sanction

" for an "

individual and isolated act

".

The Rhone club had also denounced an "

unequal treatment over the same season

", in view of the meager sanctions pronounced by the committee during previous events.

With this appeal, the FFF, reputed to be more severe than the LFP, will re-examine the whole file.

This is the first time this season, despite five events negatively implicating the supporters before this meeting, that a file has been sent to the Federation.
