Adi Hütter was coach in Frankfurt for three years, led the club to the semi-finals of the Europa League and, with 60 points, the best Bundesliga yield since the introduction of the three-point rule. In the summer it was over with all sorts of dissent, he moved to Gladbach. The Gladbach coach has lost the first reunion with Eintracht 2: 3 (1: 1). Florian Neuhaus (6th minute) and Ramy Bensebaini (54th penalty kick) scored in front of 15,000 spectators for the hosts, Rafael Borré (45th), Jesper Lindstrøm (50th) and Daichi Kamada (55th) scored the guests' goals.
The last time Gladbach had set three defeats and 2:14 goals: 1: 4 each in Cologne and Leipzig, in between a memorable 0: 6 at home against SC Freiburg. Hütter reacted to the bankruptcy series in terms of personnel and offered four new ones in the starting line-up. Among other things, Neuhaus, who has played an unlucky season so far, moved into the first team. It was also the national player who crowned the hosts' first dangerous attack: Luca Netz crossed, Joe Scally headed the right corner of the box and Neuhaus hit the far corner with a shot after receiving the ball (6th minute).
Gladbach acted safe on the ball, the guests still got no access to the game.
In the 26th minute they were able to thank goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, who barely managed to parry an Alassane Pléa shot from a half-right position.
In view of his own superiority, Denis Zakaria went into a solo in his own penalty area shortly before halftime and lost the ball. It got to Lindstrøm via Sebastian Rode, who found Borré at the six-yard box - the Colombian only had to push in (45th).
Three hits in five minutes
The second half started wildly: First Lindstrøm gave the guests a free-standing lead from the penalty spot after a cross from Evan Ndicka (50th), then Bensebaini leveled the score 2-2 with a safely converted penalty (54th).
In direct return, however, the lead fell again for Frankfurt: Kamada scored his first goal of the season after a one-two with Borré (55th).
Lindstrøm missed the preliminary decision twice (59th and 60th) before Eintracht weakened itself: Tuta saw yellow-red after a foul on Marcus Thuram.
However, Gladbach could not capitalize on the excess and suffered the fourth defeat in a row.
At the end of the year, Eintracht Frankfurt will receive FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday, Borussia Mönchengladbach will travel to TSG Hoffenheim (3:30 p.m., TV: Sky).
