Basketball superstar Steph Curry broke the NBA's three-way record and improved it to 2977 converted throws.
The professional of the Golden State Warriors overtook the previous record holder Ray Allen in the 105: 96 against the New York Knicks on Tuesday evening.
It was the 12:10 threesome at Madison Square Garden that put curry in the history books.
When the NBA record was all his own, Curry jerked his arms forward and patted his chest.
Seconds later, the Warriors took a break.
The dethroned Allen, who played for Milwaukee, Seattle, Boston and Miami in his career, congratulated Curry on the field.
He had taken over the top spot from Reggie Miller ten years ago and finished his career with 2973 three-pointers.
The people in the legendary hall in Manhattan, although mostly fans of the Knicks, celebrated Curry as if he were one of their own.
“Doing this at Madison Square Garden is special.
I can't say how honored I am for the reaction here out here to this milestone, ”Curry said.
"It's a very, very special evening."
Allen needed 1,300 games for his yield, the 33-year-old Curry set the record in only 789 NBA games.
For the Warriors it was the 23rd win of the season, the team is at the top of the Western Conference and is one of the title favorites this season.
“I'm curious to see where the record will be once it has reached 1,300 games.
He still has four, five, six years to go.
This record will never be broken, ”said TV expert and NBA icon Shaquille O'Neal.
The day before, Dirk Nowitzki had said: "I don't think there's anyone in sight who can break his record."
Curry shaped the NBA with his style of play.
The three-time NBA champion and twice most valuable player of the season pro popularized the threesome.
In Curry's first NBA season 2009/2010 there were an average of 18.1 three-way attempts in an NBA game - this season this value per team is 35.4.
"He's revolutionized the way the game is played," said NBA boss Adam Silver.
