Surprise on the first second match day of the 2nd Bundesliga: League leaders St. Pauli lost 3-0 (3-0) at Holstein Kiel, which was stuck in the table basement up to now.

The Kielers overtook Fortuna Düsseldorf in the table, which lost against SV Sandhausen 0: 1 (0: 1).

FC St. Pauli traveled to the capital of Schleswig-Holstein as autumn champions, but had big problems with long balls from the opponent against Kiel: This was evident in the eighth minute when Fabian Reese overran Luca Zander on the left and on the edge of the penalty area to Lewis Holtby cast off. Nikola Vasilj in St. Pauli Gate could not hold his shot, Fin Bartels dusted off. The Kielers found their way into the game better and better, the strong starting eleven debutant Jonas Sterner initiated the 2-0 with a cross, after a blocked shot the ball fell again at the feet of a Kieler: Finn Porath pushed in (29th).

The preliminary decision was made before the break. Sterner was again involved, who served Benedikt Pichler on a counterattack: The Austrian ran past Vasilj and pushed in (45th + 1). In the second half, substitute Fiete Arp missed the 4-0 for Kiel (57th). On the other hand, St. Pauli tried offensively, but left room for counterattack. Significantly, the yellow card against St. Paulis Maximilian Dittgen, who was actually substituted for offensive accents at the break, but then had to prevent a counterattack via Arp with a foul (86th). Kiel has moved up to twelfth place for the time being.

Fortuna Düsseldorf is slipping into the relegation battle in the second division.

In the bankruptcy against Sandhausen, the Düsseldorfers lacked the most offensive power.

The table penultimate had conceded the second most goals up to the current 18th matchday and did not exactly stand for defensive stability.

And defensively, Fortuna was taken by surprise by the physically strong Pascal Testroet, who accepted a pass in the penalty area with his back to the goal and hit the left corner from the turn (7th).

Düsseldorf could no longer compensate for the early lead and so the lead over the relegation rank melted to just three points.
