Summary: Liverpool - Newcastle 1: 3 (Sport 1)
Liverpool continue to try to close the gap from Manchester City, showing that they have the character needed to give a real fight for the championship. Last night (Thursday) the Merseysiders recorded a sixth consecutive league victory as they came back from a 1-3 deficit over Newcastle, with Klopp enjoying goals from Juta (21), Muhammad Salah (25) and a marvelous missile for Trent Alexander Arnold's connections.
Alexander Arnold, who until a few months ago was seen in a major decline in his career and even lost his place in the England team, has looked excellent lately and the huge goal he scored yesterday has finally proved that he is back, and in a big way. The numbers also support this assertion: In 2021, Alexander Arnold created more than 100 direct Valley situations, more than any other player in the Premier League. In the last five years there have been only five players who have reached such numbers in a calendar year, and they are all attacking players.
"I've been waiting for a goal like something like five years. There have already been a few goals in kicks off the field, but not a goal like that," Alexander Arnold boasted at the end.
"It was especially sweet. It was a tough game, and the early goal we conceded changed the picture. I'm glad we knew how to recover, it shows how much power we have."

The defender complimented Muhammad Salah, who extended his league streak with a goal or a brace to 15 - equal to the longest streak of all time (belonging to Jamie Vardy).
"It's crazy. He's the best player in the world, it goes without saying. He does everything in the game, in every game. He wants to break all records, he wants to write his name in the pages of football history. And he's on the right track."
Jürgen Klopp, who has reached 150 Premier League victories and has become the fastest Liverpool coach to reach that number, was particularly enthusiastic about Alexander Arnold's performance.
At the end he seems to give the defender a warm hug.
"I told him his goal was the exciting moment of the game. A completely crazy goal," he explained.
"Trent has a great kicking technique, on a different level than any defensive player I know, and it's cool to see that."
