TSV 1860 Munich and cult striker Sascha Mölders have split up.
As the third division soccer team announced on Sunday, both parties agreed "after constructive talks" on an immediate cancellation of the contract that originally ran until the end of the season.
The »lions« managed to »clear up all misunderstandings and in the end both parties agreed that the best solution is to terminate the contract.«
1860 had his then captain Mölders released from training at the beginning of December.
Coach Michael Köllner justified the decision with the unsatisfactory performance of the 36-year-old striker and fan favorite with the nickname of "Wampe von Giesing".
»I am proud that I was allowed to be the captain of this team and look back on many wonderful experiences.
I will always keep my fingers crossed for the team and hope that the club can achieve its goals.
Thanks to all the fans who have always stood by me, «said Mölders, who moved to Munich in the summer of 2016 and was top scorer in the third division last season with 22 goals.
