What a drama: The Erding Gladiators led on Sunday evening on their own ice against ESC Geretsried until the final third with 4: 2 goals, then after extra time 5: 4 (3: 2, 1: 0, 0: 2; 1 : 0) to win.

Erding

- "I don't know which young players I will have available on Sunday," said Erding coach Thomas Vogl after the Friday game in Miesbach, "because our U 20s will play on Sunday and the Deggendorf U 20s too". In the end, there were 15 field players on the match report, including a handful of TSV juniors as well as Paul Wallek and Daniel Schroepfer, two licensees from Deggendorf. On the other hand, the Geretsrieder had only come with twelve field players - and took the lead in the 3rd minute thanks to Daniel Bursch.

And it continued to be turbulent. During the first Erdinger penalty time, Roni Rukajärvi slipped the puck out of his own third in the direction of Geretsrieder Tor, goalkeeper Martin Morczinietz was inattentive and let the hard rubber disc pass to make it 1-1. But when the Gladiators were just two seconds complete, a shot by Stephan Englbrecht from close range hit goalkeeper Thomas Mende to make it 2-1 for the River Rats. The Gladiators didn't want to be inferior, and when the guests were just two seconds complete after their first penalty, Lukas Krämmer scored 2-2 (14th). Then the gladiators were outnumbered again, and Rukajärvi chased the puck into the net to make it 3-2 (16.).

In the second section, the gladiators had their opponent under control, but failed to extend their lead. Keeper Morczinietz made up for his 1: 1 mistake several times during this phase. The River Rats had their chances, but could not defeat Mende at first. So it remained exciting in a very fair game - until the 33rd minute. When gladiators captain Philipp Michl pushed the puck over the line to make it 4: 2 (33rd), it seemed like the preliminary decision.

But anyone who thought the River Rats would give up was mistaken.

Geretsried now put a lot of pressure on, and gladiators coach Vogl took a break to wake up his team again, which only partially succeeded.

In the final third, Klaus Berger made a counterattack to make it 3: 4 (46th), and exactly 120 seconds later Florian Strobl made it 4: 4.

The River Rats stayed at it, unlucky with two post shots, but after 60 minutes it stayed 4-4.

The additional point was finally won by the gladiators with a goal from Rukajrävi in the majority (62nd).
