Ron-Thorben Hofmann is currently on loan from FC Bayern to Sunderland AFC.

The goalkeeper does not aim to return to Munich.

Munich / Sunderland

- AFC Sunderland is currently on the way up.

The English occupy third place in the third-tier League One after 22 games, which entitles them to participate in the promotion playoffs.

Only two points are missing to the direct promotion place.

Ron-Thorben Hoffmann played a large part in this.

The loan from FC Bayern * has established itself as a regular goalkeeper in Sunderland and has made 17 league appearances in the current season.

The 22-year-old only had to reach behind him 22 times and remained clean in five games.

Accordingly, the Rostock feels at home with the "Black Cats".

Sunderland AFC with purchase obligation for Hofmann on promotion

“I want to advance with the team and stay here for the long term.

That's very clear to me, ”Hofmann told The Athletic.

The goalkeeper is currently on loan to the AFC for one season.

He still has a contract with FC Bayern until 2023. However, the English are obliged to buy if they advance to the championship - the second English division - this season.

However, Hofmann has not yet dealt with his contractual situation.

"We are still seven months away from this scenario," the goalkeeper told the newspaper.

What is clear, however, is that Hoffmann himself can contribute to fulfilling his wish to stay for the long term with good performance.

At the German record champions, the 22-year-old was unable to assert himself among the professionals in his three years and was not used.

In the second team, the goalkeeper played an important role in both the regional and the third division.

When he moved to Sunderland AFC in the summer, Hofmann said he was fulfilling a childhood dream: "I always told my parents that I wanted to play in England or for Bayern Munich."
