Tottenham Hotspur are eliminated from the Europa Conference League.
The end is certain because Uefa has rated the group game between Tottenham and Stade Rennes scheduled for December 9th with 3-0 for the French.
This was announced by the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Commission of the European Football Union.
The game did not play on the last day of the group stage after eight players and five coaches from the London club tested positive for the corona virus.
According to the UEFA regulations, the group stage must be completed by December 31st.
If a timely rescheduling is not possible, "the club that cannot take part in this game would be held responsible for it."
In this case, a 3-0 defeat will be declared.
Vitesse Arnhem benefits
There had been confusion about the game being canceled.
On the day of the match itself, Spurs announced that the game would not take place.
Opponents Rennes had been irritated by this, the French had already traveled to London and accused their opponent of having made a "unilateral decision" that had not been agreed with either Rennes or UEFA.
As a result, the parties could not agree on an alternative date.
"Unfortunately, despite all efforts, no solution could be found that is acceptable for both clubs," said Uefa on the weekend before last.
The beneficiary of the measure is Vitesse Arnhem.
The Dutch are second behind Rennes and ahead of Spurs in the second lap.
There they meet Rapid Vienna.
Better to go to the Champions League
Tottenham will be able to cope with the end.
The Londoners were considered the favorites for the title in the Conference League, which was held for the first time.
However, this is not considered to be very prestigious.
In the Premier League, the Spurs fight for qualification for the Champions League.
On Sunday they played 2-2 against Liverpool.
It was Tottenham's first game after three corona-related cancellations.
