Hapoel Tel Aviv started the season badly and for tonight's game (Monday, 20:30) against Hapoel Gilboa / Galil it will come from tenth place in the table with a balance of six losses and three wins.
One of the few bright spots in the group in red is Gil Benny.
The quarterback gets over 19 minutes per game (more than many thought when he signed with the team), scores 5.3 points (34.8 percent for 3) and delivers 1.9 assists per game.
But most of all, he has become a favorite of the audience following the belligerent gameplay and uncompromising nature.
"We started the season not the way we wanted," he admits.
"In every game we come with a lot of desire, even in the game against Hapoel Jerusalem we may not have played well enough, but we did come with the right attitude. I hope this time we will do the job in terms of basketball as well."
To reach the cup you have to beat both Gilboa and Maccabi in the derby, is there a chance?
"We come to every game with the thought that we can win. Especially in the situation we are in now we have no choice but to win every game and I believe we will do it."

At the beginning of the season there were a lot of expectations to interrupt Hapoel's bad years, do you think this team has the potential to get out of the situation it was in and reach the goals that everyone was talking about?
"We have a special team and we are still not close to what we are capable of being. We need to connect a little more and play better basketball. We need to come and 'kill' every game. I believe we will be a great team."
Benny (23) took advantage at the last minute of the option to leave the contract at Gilboa / Galil and moved to Hapoel Tel Aviv. Many wondered how he leaves the best incubator for Israeli players and moves to a club that in recent years quite a few players have struggled with.
Do you like the decision you made?
"I love and accept the decision I made. I am in a good place and very pleased with the move."
You meet your previous team, have feelings beyond a normal game?
"The first time I play against a team I played for and there are some strange and unusual feelings. I really like Gilboa's club and the people there, I have a lot of good friends there, but when the game starts you do not remember anything. I will come as to any normal game." .
