Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal announced today that tests revealed that he had contracted the Corona virus upon his arrival in his country, after participating in an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi last week.
Nadal added in a statement, "I am experiencing difficult moments, but I hope to improve little by little. I am now on my way home and have informed all those in contact with this result."
Nadal participated in the Abu Dhabi Championship after a long absence from competitions due to injury, and the return of the 20-times Grand Slam champion ended with two defeats at the hands of Andy Murray and Denis Shapovalov in his first appearance since the Washington Open last August.
