The two-time Olympic medalist awarded a girl with a rare health syndrome a yellow belt as part of a project he set up • "It's one of those moments that reminds me why I do what I do"

Uri Sasson is known as a very sturdy man, but it turns out that his heart is no less big.

It all started with the young Alicia who suffers from Prader Willie Syndrome.

If we run the whole story forward there is a happy ending - she received her yellow judo belt from the Olympic medalist, at the Shalva organization gala event.

A minute before you get really excited, here's the full story.

Uri Sasson proudly told us that he lives for such moments.

After no event took place last year due to the Corona, it happened yesterday (Monday) and in a big way with 750 guests and more than 1,000 virtual participants, who came to support an organization that cares for thousands of children with disabilities.

One of the highlights was when Sean met 9-year-old Alicia who was born with a rare multi-system genetic disorder called Prader Willi Syndrome, which is characterized by reduced muscle tone.

Despite her low chances, she is a rising judo star.

She participates in a judo rehabilitation program for children with disabilities.

Shalva's judo program was established by Sasson himself and is one of a number of the organization's fitness and leisure programs that benefit hundreds of children and adults with disabilities each week.

"Today I am closing the circle," Uri Sasson told the hall, which is packed with 750 Shalva supporters, when he gave Alicia her new judo belt.

"It's one of those moments that reminds me of why I do what I do; how judo built me and how he builds them and what an honor it is to be a part of Shalva's amazing work."
