High diver Iris Schmidbauer has made the jump to the Swimming World Championships again.

In Abu Dhabi, the Pähler qualified confidently.

Two other Germans can also be happy.

Abu Dhabi - cliff diver Iris Schmidbauer has qualified in the discipline "High Diving" for the swimming world championships of the world association FINA in Fukuoka (Japan) next year.

In the qualification competition on the sidelines of the short course World Cup in Abu Dhabi, the 26-year-old from Pähl managed the norm with ease.

Iris Schmidbauer takes sixth place in the qualification ranking

Iris Schmidbauer finished eleventh in the overall ranking after four rounds of competition.

The twelve best jumpers bought the World Cup ticket.

Since the best six from the last World Cup were already qualified and some of them ended up ahead of Schmidbauer, they even took sixth place in the qualifying ranking.

Schmidbauer showed one of the most difficult jumps for women in the fourth lap: a triple backflip with two screws.

For this she got - after a good evaluation by the judges - 88.15 points.

In total she came to 270.80 points.

Schmidbauer has already competed in the 2017 World Championships in Budapest (Hungary) and in 2019 in Gwangju (South Korea).

The best result was eighth place two years ago.

In addition to the Pähler, who competed for SG Munich in Abu Dhabi, Anna Bader (SV Halle / 8th place qualification) - for the third place in the World Cup in Barcelona 2013 it was a comeback - and Manuel Halbisch (VFL Waiblingen / 13th place qualification) for the 2022 World Cup. High diving includes jumping from a height of over ten meters.

The platforms are 20 meters (women) and 27 meters (men) high for official competitions.
