The defeated woman was the first to congratulate the women in the giant slalom in Courchevel: Ski superstar Mikaela Shiffrin rushed to Sara Hector, who surprisingly won in the French Alps.
"You are so good," Shiffrin called to her competitor, and gave her a hug.
In the double event in Courchevel, Hector put in four splendid runs, 0.35 seconds ahead of Shiffrin.
Hector celebrated her second World Cup success - seven years after the premiere in Kühtai, also in the giant slalom.
“That's wonderful, it feels so good.
I'm so surprised, it's crazy, "said the 29-year-old:" I did it, I'm so proud! "Marta Bassino from Italy came in third (+0.60 seconds).
Top drivers were missing
Hector also benefited from the absence of several top riders.
In addition to the Swiss world champion Lara Gut-Behrami, Katharina Liensberger (Austria) and Alice Robinson (New Zealand) were also absent due to positive corona tests.
In the overall standings, Shiffrin, who had won in Courchevel on Tuesday, extended her lead.
German drivers did not start in the final, Marlene Schmotz (+4.14) and Jessica Hilzinger (+5.06) on Hector were large after the first run.
Since the resignation of Olympic champion Viktoria Rebensburg in September 2020, the DSV women have been in a crisis in the core alpine discipline.
