At the end of last season, Hansi Flick announced his end as Bayern coach, now he spoke about his saddest moment in Munich.

Frankfurt - After Joachim Löw resigned as national coach, Hansi Flick took over the position and breathed new life into the national team.

Even if Flick is the ideal person for the position at the DFB, given his experience and reputation with the players, many FC Bayern fans will still be annoyed.

His engagement with the record champions was marked by numerous records and titles and ended due to friction with sports director Hasan Salihamidzic.

Now Flick summed up his departure from Munich.

FC Bayern: Hansi Flick reminisces about farewell to Munich - one thing makes him particularly sad

As a national coach, Flick can - unlike at times at FC Bayern - prepare for the upcoming tasks without any background noise. Although the quieter way of working outside of club football suits him, in an interview with

Sport Bild

the 56-year-old regrets how the relationship between the club and the coach has diverged. “Farewell to FC Bayern was a little sad. I got a great chance there, for which I am very grateful. We played challenging and attractive football and had one of the most successful times in the club's history. That's also what gets stuck in the end, ”says Flick, who won the triple among others.

A typical process in professional sport bothered him particularly, also with regard to the success under his direction.

"I know that it belongs to a certain extent to football: But it was sad for me that this successful team, which had a very special cohesion in the group, broke up a bit," admits Flick.

In fact, some important pillars had to leave the club after the last successful season. "Thiago, whom I appreciate very much as a person and a footballer, Jérôme Boateng and David Alaba, who has made a huge leap as a leader in the last two years," said Flick, complaining about the departures of the three heavyweights. In addition, Javi Martínez, whom Flick describes as a "valuable player", moved to the club in the summer. Even the departure of the legendary coach Hermann Gerland “doesn't leave him indifferent”.

Now Flick has to establish the “special character” he is assisting his former Bayern team with in the national team.

The quiet man from Heidelberg knows a large part of the players from his time in Munich or as assistant coach of the national team, but with his human nature he should have already brought the rest of the team on board.

Seven wins in his first seven games clearly demonstrate his positive influence so far.
