TSV Penzberg took part in the cross-country championship with four athletes.

Two of them finished in the top 20.

However, their conclusion was completely opposite.

Penzberg / Sonsbeck - Only a few days after the European cross-country championship, in which Nick Jäger from Penzberg took part, the national German title fights in this special running discipline were on the program.

Four young athletes from TSV Penzberg competed in Sonsbeck (North Rhine-Westphalia).

Two of them, Luk Jäger and Marvin Bertram, each made it into the top 20 in their age group.

The balance sheets of the two TSV runners were different.

While the 20-year-old Marvin Bertram was more than satisfied with his 14th place in the U23, the 19-year-old Luk Jäger struggled with his twelfth place in his last appearance in the U20 classification.

"Halfway through the race I just ran out of strength," says Luk Jäger, giving a good account of the course of his race.

Initially, the student was in the front field.

When a group of three moved forward after one kilometer, Jäger briefly took the lead in the chasing group.

But despite their leadership work, the trio kept pulling away.

In the further course of the race, the Penzberger fought to keep up with the chasing group, but lost more and more ground.

With 21:41 minutes after 6.1 kilometers he was almost exactly one minute behind Tom Förster (LG Vogtland), who had dominated the race and won.

In the U23, the winner was Dominik Brem (LG Telis Finanz Regensburg), who had covered the middle distance of 4.1 kilometers in 13:18 minutes.

The Penzberger Bertram needed 14:12 minutes.

The student was very satisfied with his performance, after all he belongs to the youngest class (2001) in the age group.

Marvin Bertram is in the top 20 in Cross-DM

On the partially deep meadow course, he started rather cautiously according to a message and tried to find a favorable position in the field of almost 110 participants.

In addition to the U23, the men started at the same time, so the pace was very high right from the start.

But he did not let that deter him and ran a steady race.

Under normal circumstances, Nick Jäger would also have started in the U23.

However, the national team athlete suffered an injury at the European Championships in Dublin: In the start fray, a competitor with 15-millimeter spikes stepped on his foot - the 22-year-old suffered a deep cut, which after the race (he finished 48th) . Rank) had to be treated in the hospital.

In order not to risk long-term problems and possible inflammation, as a precaution, the Penzberger refrained from participating.

Corinna Braun shows an even race at Cross-DM

Corinna Braun returned from the competitions in the Wesel district with a midfield placement among the U18 women.

The 17-year-old from Benediktbeuern placed herself in the middle of the field in the first lap.

When the field then split up into several groups, she found herself at the head of the third group of runners.

She held this position until the beginning of the last lap.

After that, her group disintegrated and each runner now fought for herself, as it were, on her own.

In the last 500 meters she was able to show off her sprint strength and improved to 28th place out of 61 participants.

With 17:18 minutes over 4.1 kilometers, she was a little more than one and a half minutes behind winner Kira Weis (KSG Gerlingen).

Joris Ressing was almost 40 seconds faster than Braun. The 16-year-old competed with the U18 boys and finished 70th out of 81 athletes with 16:35 minutes. “It was really hard to run on the muddy ground,” stated the 800 meter specialist, for whom the 4.1 kilometer route was unusually long.

The DM winners in the main classes each won confidently.

In the middle distance (4.1 kilometers), marathon specialist Johannes Motschmann (SSC Berlin / 12: 47) won the gold medal for the first time after silver in the previous year.

He finished twelve seconds before the runner-up.

On the long distance (10.1 kilometers), European Championship participant Samuel Fitwi Sibhatu (LG Vulkaneifel) was in a class of his own with 33:00 minutes.

In the women’s category, Alina Reh (SCC Berlin) had everything under control over the 6.1 kilometers.

A week after her bronze medal at the European Championships in Dublin, she secured the title with 21:44 minutes and 41 seconds.
