Leading twice, setting the tone for a long time in the middle third: EC Peiting had it in their hands to score against the “Blue Devils Weiden”.

In the end it wasn't enough and coach Anton Saal was “pissed off”.

Peiting - EC Peiting has to wait for a win against a top team in the Oberliga: At the "Blue Devils Weiden", coach Anton Saal's team lost 3: 6 on Friday evening. The defeat was "bitter", said Saal. “I'm pissed off.” Once again the team showed “too much respect”. It is possible that “a little quality is lacking” against such opponents, said Saal immediately after the game. The Weidener victory was deserved. The ECP had also lost out in the two direct duels before that. “We always have a hard time against willows,” said Saal. "They have a plan and quality in their squad," he praised the team trained by Sebastian Buchwieser.

The first third began with a few chances on both sides - and then the Peitinger showed a masterpiece: After an urgent phase of the "Blue Devils", in which the guests could not come out of their own zone, the ECP started a counterattack. The disk ran nice and briskly; from Eetu-Ville Arkiomaa she came to Nardo Nagtzaam, who scored 1-0 (9th). Many other opponents in the league would have brought the Peitinger off the ground with this action. The Weidener - most recently with seven wins from eight games - stayed cool. They used their first power play to equalize 1: 1: Martin Heinisch stood undisturbed in front of ECP keeper Florian Hechenrieder and scored after repeated follow-ups (11th). When the Peitinger were unsorted a little later, Philipp Siller scored the 2-1 (13th) after great preparatory work by Tomas Rubes.Overall, the lead of the "Blue Devils" at the third break was deserved. Bitter: Florian Stauder was injured from the ice after a duel (18th); he didn't come back after that.

In the middle third, none of the teams were able to gain any real advantages.

A nice combination over Dominic Krabbat and Nagtzaam finished Arkiomaa in the angle to 2: 2 (28th).

This hit now had an effect on Weiden: As a result, Peiting set the tone.

The ex-Weidener Marco Habermann succeeded in the majority - he falsified a Ty Morris shot - the 3-2 (32nd).

Krabbat only narrowly failed (33rd).

In another power play, Markus Gohlke and Nagtzaam's fourth ECP goal was in the air.

Then, surprisingly, the Weiden equalizer through Rubes, who immediately used a pass that came from the curve behind the goal (38th).

If he went it alone, Weidens Palka even had the chance to take the lead (40th).

The final third started very unfavorably for Peiting: After just 31 seconds, Weidens Palka made it 4: 3. “That was a deep blow,” said Saal. After that, the ECP survived a minority (42nd) with luck and skill, with Morris having a huge chance on a break. A little later, a “Blue Devil” had to go to the penalty box (51st), but the guests didn't get a decisive move. Weiden set the tone in this phase - first with a break from Chad Bassen (51st), then with a penalty from Rubes (52nd). Hechenrieder parried confidently in both actions. In the end, the hard-fought ECP never came back into the game. The goal to 5: 3 by Bassen after going it alone (54th) made for the preliminary decision. Around three minutes before the end, Peiting took the goalkeeper off the ice for a field player. A break from Ralf Herbst landed on the 6th:3 final score in the orphaned goal.
