Ice pirates go under in the final third

Until a quarter of an hour before the end, the ESC Dorfen was allowed to hope at the EHC Waldkraiburg.

Waldkraiburg / Dorfen - In the end it was the expected defeat.

2: 8 (0: 0, 2: 1, 0: 7) the ESC Dorfen had to admit defeat on Thursday evening in a strange game at EHC Waldkraiburg.

Approaching decimated arguments is now a part of the ice pirates, like swearing in before the first face-off. There were 14 outfield players plus two goalkeepers this time, but half of the top ten scorers were missing, as were the two top strikers: Tomas Vrba literally experienced an epidemic season, initially with a hand injury, after a few games one caught him Flu, and now the shoulder is causing problems. With David Hrazdira, who was signed up, the contract has expired, confirmed Manfred Detterbeck, “and we cannot afford three transfer card players in the long run”. Only one foreign position was occupied by the recovered Urban Sodja, because his Slovenian compatriot Gasper Susanj is still ill. The goalless score at the first break should have caused disappointment. These first 20 minutes were as balanced and uneventful as the result. After a shot from the post by the lions, Sodja shot past the Dorfen side in a promising position before Waldkraiburg staged some very good attacks. ESC goalie Luca Endres prevented impacts with luck and very good saves. They were then concentrated. With Simon Franz after a great move and Erik Walter with a slap shot from the blue line, it was two defenders who put Dorfen 2-0 in front within one and a half minutes.In the euphoria of the ice pirates, after their puck loss in the neutral zone, Leon Decker hit the Waldkraiburg goal just 19 seconds later.

As if transformed, the lions came out of their cage to the last passage.

And it was not the first time this season that Dorfen got off track through stays in the penalty box.

This time it was defender Maximilian Huber who got a "fiver" for a gang check.

But then Waldkraiburg's Patrick Zimmermann would have had to get a five-minute penalty instead of two minutes in a similar action in the first third.

Sebastian Stanik, twice Michael Popelka, Philipp Lode and Leon Decker were followed by a brutal additional penalty with five overpaid goals.

If it works, then it works - and so Decker and Popelka screwed the result to 8: 2.

Seven goals against in eight minutes - then the ESC nightmare was over.
