After the sporting director's departure announced at the end of November, OL appointed Bruno Cheyrou as technical advisor and director of recruiting mascu

It is therefore an internal recruitment which will have been chosen by the Olympique Lyonnais to replace Juninho, leaving.

Bruno Cheyrou, 43, had been working since his arrival at OL in 2019 with the director of football, Vincent Ponsot.

It was initially planned that he collaborate in the recruitments of the men's team but differences of views with Juninho had changed his role towards actions closer to the women's team, the Academy and partnership agreements at the international.

Bruno Cheyrou, Director of Recruitment, explains the organization and its role within Olympique Lyonnais.

"Since I have been at OL, my goal has been to bring my expertise and my skills in my technical field and to be as useful as possible for the club", he confided in an interview with the 'AFP and daily Le Progrès.

“I am at the disposal of the club.

I had not disappeared but my missions were a little different.

I come back to the level of recruiting boys, from which I had left, and girls in a slightly more important way, ”he also added.

The Rhone club is currently in a bad patch, 13th in Ligue 1. Sportingly, it remains on a sad draw against Metz (1-1) Wednesday night in the league.

And in terms of image, the recent clashes in which some OL Ultras were involved are not helping.

Juninho, 46, former OL playmaker (2001-2009) when the club dominated French football, returned to Lyon in 2019 as sports director, with the blessing of President Jean-Michel Aulas and to the cheers of supporters.

In Lyon, the former idol of Gerland did not only make friends, as evidenced by his passing of arms last May with ex-trainer Rudi Garcia.

When leaving the club, the latter had settled accounts with the Brazilian, accusing him of wanting to interfere in his sporting choices.

“My way of being bothered Rudi.

He is really cold, he has no feeling, ”retorted the former playmaker, perceived on the contrary as being more instinctive and on edge.
